Kitsho Hosotani – 1st Prize 2017

Kitsho Hosotani, age 17, is student of Professor Ilya Kaler and Dr. Olga Kaler. In February 2012, Kitsho made his solo debut with the Fox Valley Symphony in Appleton, Wisconsin. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Northeastern Illinois University String Orchestra, Concert Orchestra of Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, Harper Symphony Orchestra, and the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra. He has won first prizes in the competition of the Chicago Youth Symphony Concert Orchestra and the Thirteen Annual DePaul Concerto Festival for Young Performers. In summer of 2015, Kitsho attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival and performed in the 2015 concert series Artists of Tomorrow Concert of Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine. He was a semifinalist in the 2016, 45th Annual William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition. As of 2017, he won 1 st prize in the American Music Institute Violin Competition.
